| F1+2

Prothrombin fragment 1+2 (F 1+2) is the amino terminal fragment of the prothrombin molecule. When the thrombin is converted to thrombin by the thrombin complex, F 1+2 is released from the thrombin, which is a polypeptide with a half-life of about 9 minutes. Thrombin activation is carried out in the presence of factor Xa, factor Va, calcium ions and phospholipid surfaces (platelets). During thrombin formation, the prothrombin fragment F1+2 can be produced in two ways.
